What: Commemoration ceremony for the 250th Anniversary of the first public
reading in NY State of the Declaration of Independence in early July
1776.
Where: The event will start on Mitchell Place in White Plains
Time: 11 a m
About The Event
There will be a short parade by Revolution-era renactors and the reading will take place at the White Plains Senior Center on South Broadway. Various political figures and office holders are expected to attend.
After the ceremony, attendees can visit a series of displays by historical interpreters in Tibbbets Park below the Senior Center location.
Mitchell Place and South Broadway will be closed to vehicular traffic for much of the late morning and early afternoon on the 12th.
Easiest parking would probably be at the Westchester Mall parking garage.
I think there is more info about this on the City of White Plains website.
The events are sponsored by the City of White Plains Revolution 250th Anniversary Committee.
Be a part of history. Next chance to do this will be in 50 years, 2076.
